Melanie and her beautiful family

i was so honored when melanie mauer one of my favorite photographers and friend asked me to photograph her family.  she has a classic and timeless style and i couldn’t wait to go down to lexington, kentucky for the shoot.  i was even more excited when melanie said she booked me and my family a stay at shaker village.  the landscape could not have been more perfect. check out their website because this place is such a gem. melanie tells me … it’s one of martha stewart’s favorite places to stay and i can see why.

it was so nice to finally meet melanie’s husband jason, her mom and her adorable little girl!

i’ve been photographing these adorable boys for the last few years and they never let me down. this time was so special because i got to photograph their new baby sister elizabeth. this was one the best sessions i’ve had in my studio. i couldn’t believe how amazing they all behaved. i wish my boys would be so into having their picture taken. thanks for such a fun afternoon and some great images!

I love the first picture! Such detail with the bubbles coming out of her mouth. How sweet! ; )

tim + lindsey

i love e-sessions, especially when the couples are as cool as these two. hanging with tim and lindsey reminded me of life before marriage and kids. they are so active and do some fun stuff like hang out at the bookstore, run, rock climb, go biking, and camping together. things i would love to do but can’t find time to do anymore. you can tell they are both really fit and seriously i may start running again after following lindsey’s tweets. she’s an avid runner and is really inspiring me even though she doesn’t know it yet.
thanks for such a fun session. see you soon!

Carmen, your new blog looks SO great!! You are so talented and inspiring, my friend.

welcome to my new blog

i’m so excited to finally launch my fresh + happy new blog. I’ve been wanting a new blog for a while and it’s finally here!  i especially want to thank anthony, lisa, brandon and the rest of the crew at  ITDR for making it happen. they were so patient with me.  i also wanted to thank my friend Tine for taking new pictures of me. as a photographer it was good to be on the other side of the camera … and she made it so easy.

it should be much easier to navigate through this blog.  i threw some images on the header but i’ll be changing and adding things throughout the next few weeks.

i’ll be posting a lot for a while to populate the new blog so come back soon!  oh and there’s a comment section that should be easier than blogger so let me know what you think?

thanks for stopping!

so great, carmen!!

chandra + eric

i’m so excited to finally be posting a session on my new blog. i drove out to miami university for this e-session because that’s where chandra and eric met. i’ve learned that they have a name for these types of unions … “miami mergers”. it’s always fun to shoot outside my area and especially a place that has so much meaning to a couple. these two drove up from nashville and i think it was well worth it. the session was a ton of fun and it was great to finally meet them. i can’t wait for their wedding!

chandra’s a teacher and i had some chalk in the car … so i thought this would be cute!

during the shoot … classes got out and suddenly the campus was full of people. it was fun to take a quick shot of them in their own little world as the rest of the world passed by.

chandra has the greatest personality. she’s so happy and positive. she’s going to be a dream to photograph on her wedding day.

they say if you kiss at midnight under this light you’ll get married. so of course i’m sure this image is done often by many engaged couples who have their engagement sessions done at miami. i myself have been asked to do this before with nick + caitlin back when we did their e-session.

if you look to the right of chandra + eric there is this cute older couple walking arm and arm. there’s something so sweet about them and i didn’t even notice it when i took this shot.

on the outskirts of campus you were back to midwest ohio and farmland. i had noticed this barn on the way into town and when chandra said she had brought her cowboy boots, i just had to take them there.
